4 dead after 14 shot in Stockton during family gathering, deputies say
Four people died after more than a dozen people were shot at a family gathering in the Northern California city of Stockton Saturday night, authorities said.
The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office said the shooting occurred around 6 p.m. at a banquet hall along the 1900 block of Lucile Avenue in Stockton, where they found 14 victims.
Of the 14 victims, deputies confirmed four people have died.
Stockton Vice Mayor Jason Lee said the shooting happened at a birthday party, but the sheriff’s office spokesperson would not confirm that, only calling it a “family gathering.”
No details about a suspect have been released at this time.
The scene remains active as the investigation is ongoing.
Gov. Gavin Newsom has been briefed on the shooting.
